This activity is designed for the second semester course in a 4-semester music theory sequence for music/music education majors and music minors. The earning objective of this activity is to introduce the concept of "Harmonic Sequences" and to have students explore how to write/notate a harmonic sequence of their own. During the course of the activity, students will also work on Oral/Written Communication and Teamwork.

Author Biography

Sidney Boquiren, Adelphi University

Sidney Marquez Boquiren grew up in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, spending most of his adult life in the United States. His compositions are often informed and influenced by his Roman Catholic faith and Philippine identity, offering a personal response to social injustices. A MacDowell Fellow, Sidney is an Associate Professor; Chair of the Department of Music; and a member of the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center Team at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. He sings with the Ignatian Schola as well as the choir of The Church of St. Francis Xavier in Manhattan, New York.
